Sereyna Avila didn’t set out to work in finance. She set out to help people make better decisions. Finance is her language.
She started as an intern for a local credit union before working full time in finance marketing. Sereyna realized most people lack clear, trustworthy guidance. That’s been the foundation for everything since.
Today as Senior Vice President at Carlyle Financial, Sereyna brings a unique combination of financial acumen and human understanding. With a Master’s degree in Communication and Advertising from California State University, Fullerton, she translates complex financial concepts into plain language. She has led award-winning campaigns across media (including the Best Practice Award from the Credit Union National Association Marketing & Business Development Council), has developed financial education programs for students and families, and has spoken to community groups throughout California to empower people.
At Carlyle, she’s both strategist and steward: She equips clients with the information they need to make big decisions and mentors colleagues with the same care. Whether she’s working with lenders in San Francisco or clients in Beverly Hills, Sereyna is known for her unwavering commitment.
Outside of work, she continues to serve. She volunteers with organizations including Longwood Manor, Union Rescue Mission, Children’s Institute, LAPD programs, and shelters for women and children throughout Los Angeles.
An interest-only mortgage is exactly what it sounds like: a type of loan where, for a set initial period of time (the first few years of your loan), you’re only paying the interest, not the principal loan.
Whether you're buying a home, refinancing, or planning for future financial goals, understanding credit scores can be incredibly valuable. Knowing what constitutes a good credit score isn’t just for financial experts—it's an essential part of managing personal finances. Let’s dive into what makes up a credit score, the numbers that define “good” credit, and strategies to maintain or improve your score.
For Sereyna, finance isn’t about numbers, it’s about people: creating space for better choices creates space for better lives.
